Conflict Free Diamonds
Happy Diamonds
At Simply Diamonds, we only buy and sell diamonds that have been obtained under the strict standards of the Kimberley Process, which is an international process that policies the trading of diamonds whose sale contributes toward civil war, insurgency, and terrorism.
Simply Diamonds supports the Kimberley process. The Kimberley Process is a partnership between industry, governments, and civil society groups. It is an initiative to prevent the trade of conflict diamonds. Conflict diamonds are rough diamonds used by rebel movements to finance wars against legitimate governments. The trade in these illicit stones has fuelled decades of devastating conflicts in countries such as Angola, Cote d'Ivoire, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Sierra Leone. The Kimberley Process tracks diamonds from the mine to the market. The Kimberley Process Certification Scheme (KPCS) imposes extensive requirements on its members to enable them to certify shipments of rough diamonds as ‘conflict-free’.
At Simply Diamonds, we only purchase diamonds through the largest and most respected suppliers who, like us, proudly adhere to and enforce the standards established by the Kimberley Process. All diamonds from Simply Diamonds are warranted to be conflict free.
Diamonds are mined throughout the world. There are major mines here in Australia. Major mines are also found in Africa, Russia and Canada. On a more positive note, diamond mines employ and provide healthcare to thousands across many African nations.
Simply Diamonds observes the highest ethical standards across every aspect of our business. We insist that our business partners adhere to those same high standards. We will continue to support and promote any process that works to uphold legitimacy and ethical standards in the diamond trade.
